'Tis the Season

I LOVE decorating for Christmas.  My decor is a little different every year.  You don't need to spend a bunch of money every year, maybe just change things around.   Or pull things out of the closet you never thought of before to add to your decor.

In November I spoke to a group of women about setting your table for the holiday season.  Here are a couple of examples of the tables I set.  One was your traditional gold decor.  I love using wrapping paper as a table runner.  Not a big investment, and no laundry!  This wrap was placed across the table and acted as a place mat.  I love gold chevron straws, for any occasion!

This fun setting had red polka dot wrap as the runner.  I used paper cupcake holders for mini bunches of red carnations.  Red carnations are super cheap.  Multiple tight bunches are a great addition for Christmas decor.

Im getting ready for a fun event this weekend.  This table theme is more of a woodland look, which is so popular this season.  I used a large scarf as the table cloth.  My trusty wood slices to add height and interested and then just some greenery.  Oh, and my adorable little red mushrooms from Target.  How cute are they?

I bought these cheap black plates from IKEA, and used gold sharpie to write a different Christmas word on each.  Bake them at 350 for 30 min, and its permanent!

And for place card holders I used this snowglobe  I bought it at Michaels.  Its meant to put your own picture in, but I used it as a place card holder!

I took my grocery list down and found chalk art inspiration on pinterest.  This is what I came up with.  Im so pleased with it!  It makes me smile every time I walk by!

My pink glitter deer head found a new place this year.

I really considered making my main tree all glittery and gold this year.  I decided in the end that my kids are growing fast.  I wont have them forever.  So while I have them I'll give them a tree that makes them happy.  And seeing their cute pictures on their trees make them and me happy.  Although it makes me a little sad to see how fast they've grown!

You may have seen my sock advent calendar before.  I made it many years ago.  Its one of my favs.

And to make my husband happy he puts his favorite hockey picture atop the tree!  He no longer hangs all his childhood hockey cards on the tree, so I guess I can't take this away too :)  It makes me cringe as we bow to the almighty hockey!  Ha!

My gold decor still does find a home in the living room and dining room.

One of my favorite new additions is the Swedish Christmas poster my parents brought me back from Sweden.  A little 3M hook, and presto - its a perfect compliment to my beverage centre.

I used a gold leaf pen to make a confetti pattern on these wine glasses.  A less expensive way to dress up plain glasses.   You can buy these beauties at many lovely stores if you are willing to spend the big bucks, but mine were a fraction of the price.  Thanks to A Thoughtful Place blog for this and many other great ideas!

How I love my Swedish welcome lights in the windows of my home.  My hubby thinks its over-kill, but I love it.
Wishing all of your a very Merry Christmas.  Keep safe and healthy!
